Rahul Dravid surpassed Sunil Gavaskar's record of most double centuries in a career for India with his marathon 270 in the Rawalpindi Test. This was Dravid's fifth double century in his 78th Test.
Gavaskar had four double centuries to his credit from 125 appearances. His last four double centuries have come in the last 15 Tests - a testimony of the fact that he has become the fulcrum of Indian batting in last three years.
Three of Dravid's double centuries have come in overseas matches - yet another Indian record. Gavaskar is the only other Indian to have scored more than one double century on foreign soil.
