Harbhajan wants to play County cricket

April 11, 2004 18:27 IST

Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh said he was looking to play in the County Championship in England to get back his bowling rhythm before joining the Indian team.

Harbhajan suffered a finger injury in his right hand and has not played a match since the first Test in Australia early this season.

"I have totally recovered from my finger injury but to get full rhythm in my bowling, I will play the County cricket in England before joining the Indian cricket team," said Harbhajan on Sunday, adding that he has already conveyed his willingness to authorities concerned in England.

The off-spinner, who has begun training at the Burlton Park stadium in Jalandhar, said "I have started bowling 10 or 12 overs at a stretch, and will double the work load next week."

"But to get fit to join Indian squad, I should be able to bowl at least 35 overs continuously which I used to bowl before my injury.

"I would like to play as many tournaments as possible, including County cricket and the Indian Airlines tournament to be held in Delhi shortly," he added.
