The Indians clinched the opening game by an innings and 52 runs on Thursday for their first Test success on Pakistani soil in 21 attempts.

"Winning India's first Test in Pakistan is a very special achievement for us. It's been a moment for the boys to be proud off," Dravid told reporters.

"We've started winning matches overseas. But we haven't won a series overseas for a long time. Winning a series, especially in Pakistan, would give us great satisfaction."

India won their last overseas Test series in Sri Lanka in 1993-94.

The Indians have won seven Tests abroad in the last four years but have not been able to clinch the series. Dravid said India had to be careful not to let that happen again on this tour.

"We know Pakistan are a good side and can always comeback strongly in the next two Tests. I just hope we continue to play well and work hard," he said.

Dravid, leading the side in the absence of the injured Sourav Ganguly, said: "We were expecting the Test to go to the wire on the fifth day with some hard cricket. But (Virender) Sehwag and Sachin (Tendulkar) gave us a great start on the first day and we took command."

Sehwag slammed an Indian record 309 and Tendulkar added 194 as the Indian amassed 675 for five in the first innings, their highest total against Pakistan.

Dravid also heaped praise on his bowlers, who dismissed Pakistan for 407 and 216 in the two innings.

"To get a result on such a track in just (over) four days is a fantastic effort from the bowlers," he said.

"It speaks volumes for the growing quality and experience in our attack. They were brilliant and determined and young seamers like Irfan Pathan and Lakshmipathy Balaji have stood up and raised their hands."

India are playing their first full series in Pakistan in over 14 years. The second Test starts in Lahore on Monday.
