Assam comfortably placed against Hyderabad

Assam were comfortably placed in their first innings scoring 230 for three against Hyderabad on the first day of Elite Group 'B' Ranji Trophy tie at the Maligaon Railway Stadium in Guwahati on Sunday.

Assam skipper Parag Das (71), who won the toss and elected to bat, opened the innings along with Subhrajit Saikia giving a good start to the home team.

Saikia made a quick 20 with the help of two boundaries before being caught by I S Reddy off a Vishnu Bardhan with the Assam score reading 42.

Das was joined by Kiran Pawar with the skipper playing some magnificent strokes though Pawar was unable to settle down and was caught by Ibrahim Khalil off Shivaji Yadav for only 11 with the score reading 80.

Skipper Das was joined by star batsman of the home team V Saravanand and the duo put on 71 runs for the third wicket.

Das was the next to be dismissed after he scored a responsible innings of 71 runs with the help of nine boundaries in 207 minutes.

Saravanand was batting on 80 which included eleven boundaries while Zakaria Zuffri at 34 was the other not out batsman.

For the visitors, Shivaji Yadav with two wickets and Vishnu Vardhan with one were the only successful bowlers of the day.
