The Pakistan Cricket Board has cracked the whip following the war of words between its chief selector, coach and captain over team selection and asked the trio to stop the public feud or pack their bags.

The PCB also took serious view of speedster Shoaib Akthar's violation of the Code of Conduct.

"I am utterly disappointed with a series of statements issued by the team officials and the chief selector. I am sad that such big names of cricket, representing a responsible organization, have indulged in mud-slinging," PCB Chief, General Tauqir Zia said in a statement.

General Zia was referring to the public spat between Aamer Sohail, Javed Miandad and Inzamam-ul Haq on the selection of probables for the five-match One-Day International series against New Zealand at home, beginning November 20.

The PCB chief, who just returned from a foreign tour, met chief selector Sohail, coach Miandad, skipper Izamam and Akhtar and warned them of severe consequences if they violate the Code of Conduct and continue the feud in public.

"I have met all the three officials and have conveyed my disappointment to them. I have warned them that the PCB will not tolerate any further statements from them against each other. They have also been informed that the PCB will be forced to ask them to pack their bags and go home if any further statements are attributed to them," General Zia said.

"They have been advised to sort out their problems in the PCB offices rather than going to the press and making a mockery of their status and stature," he added.

In view of General Zia's warning, the PCB considers the case as closed and will not make any further statements on this issue, a spokesman of the PCB said.

Akhtar was also reprimanded for criticising the ICC and PCB in interviews during his recent tour of India, during which he attended the Wisden awards function. The bowler apologised to the PCB for the remarks.

"He has been told in no uncertain terms to refrain from statements that are against the ICC and PCB policies," the spokesman added.
