Munaf Patel in Mumbai team

November 10, 2003 22:56 IST

Young fast bowler Munaf Patel has been included in the Mumbai team for the next two Ranji Trophy matches while leg spinner Sairaj Bahutule returns to lead the defending champions.

Bahutule, who was on national duty after Anil Kumble pulled out of the Cuttack tri-series tie against New Zealand following his father's demise, will lead Mumbai in the Elite Group A league matches against Delhi, at Delhi from November 15-18, and Uttar Pradesh, at Kanpur from November 23-26, Mumbai Cricket Association joint-secretary and former Test opener Lalchand Rajput said on Monday.

Patel could not play in Mumbai's first match against Baroda as there was some delay in obtaining clearance from the Gujarat Cricket Association, his home association.

The 22-year-old paceman represented India 'A' in the three-day match against New Zealand at Rajkot from October 2 to 4 and picked five wickets, including that of Kiwi skipper Stephen Fleming and prolific scorer Nathan Astle

The Mumbai team: Sairaj Bahutule (capt), Vinayak Samant (wicketkeeper), Wasim Jaffer, Vinayak Mane, Onkar Khanvilkar, Amol Muzumdar, Vinod Kambli, Ramesh Powar, Nilesh Kulkarni, Avishkar Salvi, Swapnil Hazare, Vineet Indulkar, Bhavin Thakkar, Robin Morris and Munaf Patel.

Stand-bys: Rajesh Verma, Pushkraj Jadhav, Manish Bangera and Abhishek Nair.

Coach: Chandrakant Pandit.
