Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary S K Nair says the Board has no grudge against former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja, who was last week cleared by the Delhi high court to participate in the domestic circuit.

Nair told newsmen in Thrissur that the BCCI would seek legal opinion on the Supreme Court's refusal to stay the Delhi high court interim order allowing Jadeja to play in domestic cricket.

The Delhi high court on May 28 had allowed Jadeja to play all domestic cricket and the Supreme Court refused to stay the high court's order notwithstanding the objection of the BCCI on Monday.

Nair also declined to comment on Jadeja's reported remark that "it looks there is somebody out there who is not very keen on my getting back to cricket".

"In any case, BCCI is not that someone," Nair said.

He also described as "totally baseless" the allegation of another former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu that BCCI is minting money at the cost of poor cricketers.

He said that Indian cricket players are getting more money than players in other nations. There are restrictions on cricketers in other countries entering into individual contracts for advertisements.

BCCI had not imposed any restrictions on the players entering into individual contracts for advertisements, he said.

On medium pacer Tinu Yohannan not making it to the national team, Nair said it was because of the bowler's unsatisfactory performance.

"The selection of players to the national team is based solely on the players' performance," he said. "Yohannan is a promising and energetic cricketer and there will come more chances for him to be selected to the national team provided he improves his performance."

Nair, who was in Thrissur to inaugurate a sport event sponsoring company, said the Kerala Cricket Association's policy to permit players from outside the state to play in the state Ranji team was aimed at strengthening cricket in the state.

This has helped to strengthen cricket in Kerala and KCA would continue the policy for some more time, he said.

Nair also said an indoor cricket academy would come up in Thrissur in collaboration with the Sree Kerala Varma college.

"An MoU in this regard has been signed with the college and the first phase of work is likely to be completed shortly," he said.
