Kaif top scorer, Yuvraj fails

July 17, 2003 16:47 IST

India's middle order batsman Mohammad Kaif was top scorer for Derbyshire in their match against Worcestershire in the Frizzel County Championship at Worcester on Tuesday.

Kaif scored 31 before he was trapped leg before by Australia's Matt Mason, who proved to be the main tormentor for Derbyshire with five wickets for 43 runs.

Replying to Derbyshire's first innings score of 163, Worcestershire made 155 for six wickets at close of play on the opening day of the second division match.

In another second division match, India's Yuvraj Singh failed miserably as he contributed only seven runs in Yorkshire's first innings score of 340 for six wickets against Durham at Chester-Le-Street on Tuesday.

At Leicester, India's Virender Sehwag was resting a back injury as Leicestershire put up a competitive total of 320 in their first innings and in reply Sussex made 51 for no wicket at close of play.
