Irfan Pathan Jr and Amit Mishra claimed four wickets each as India 'A' dismissed Yorkshire for 246 in their first innings on the opening day of the three-day cricket match at Headingley on Wednesday.

Yorkshire, electing to bat, were aided by half-centuries from Michael Lumb and Tim Bresnan but their other batsmen failed to make much of an impression.

Pathan finished with an impressive 4-60 from his 15.2 overs while leg-spinner Mishra claimed 4-42 from 21 overs.

In reply, India 'A' finished at 29 for one at close, having lost captain Shiv Sunder Das for two. Wasim Jaffer, on 22, and
Gautam Gambhir, on 5, were at the crease.

India 'A' tasted early success when paceman Amit Bhandari dismissed home captain Matthew Wood for five when the score was just 10 runs. Opener Chris Taylor (13) also fell cheaply before Lumb, who top-scored with 65, took charge of the proceedings.

Even though wickets fell at regular intervals at the other end, Lumb batted comfortably and managed to put on
useful little partnerships with the other batsmen.

Lumb, who faced 108 balls during his 135-minute stay at the crease and hit 13 boundaries, became Mishra's first victim
when he was caught by Hemang Badani at the team score of 161.

Yorkshire lost two quick wickets after that to slip to 178-7 before Bresnan (52) and Andy Gray (15) put on 45 runs
for the eighth wicket. Bresnan faced 86 balls and hit 9 fours.

After the hosts had been bowled out in 77.2 overs, Bresnan gave an early jolt to the Indian innings when he trapped Das leg before wicket in his second over.
