Akhtar puts Pakistan in charge against Bangladesh

Shoaib Akhtar passed the 100-wicket mark in Test cricket on Saturday as he took four for 30 to inspire Pakistan to a winning position against Bangladesh.

The fast bowler took two wickets in three balls in his fourth over on Saturday as Bangladesh were bowled out for only 96 runs in their second innings.

Pakistan, who need 163 runs to win the second Test and take the three-match series, required just 14.5 overs on Saturday to wrap up the Bangladesh innings in 76 minutes.

Akhtar trapped overnight batsman Rajin Saleh and than Khaled Mashud leg before in his fourth over of the morning to send Bangladesh reeling to 64 for six after they resumed on 52 for four with a first innings lead of 66 runs.

Saleh's wicket was Akhtar's 100 in his 27th Test match and he ended with four for 30 and match figures of 10 for 80.

Local boy Umar Gul than stepped into the picture to clean up the Bangladesh tail with the wickets of Mashrafe Mortaza and Alamgir Kabir to leave Pakistan a comfortable target on a batting track.

Pakistan won the first Test in Karachi by seven wickets.
