Medium-pacer Amit Uniyal took five wickets as Plate 'A' were dismissed for 135 in their first innings on the opening day of the Duleep Trophy cricket match against Elite 'B' in Chennai on Thursday.

At stumps, the Rohan Gavaskar-led Elite 'B' were 87 for one.

Plate 'A' were 101 for two at lunch but collapsed thereafter, adding only 34 runs in 18.2 overs.

Though Uniyal got rid of opener Ritesh Jaiswal (20) early, Rowland Barrington and captain Hrishikesh Kanitkar batted comfortably and seemed set to put up a good total. But Sairaj Bahutule struck for Elite 'B', removing Kanitkar (26), who snicked to Wasim Jaffer at slips.

Barrington (51) held on grimly, but after Bahatule dismissed Rajeev Kumar (5), Uniyal, who maintained a good length and line scalped Yashpal Singh (0).

Barrington too left after offering a simple catch at square leg to Bahatule of Uniyal.

Uniyal took a brace of wickets, dismissing both Sunil Joshi and Dodda Ganesh before they could open their account and was on a hat-trick. However, veteran Ananthapadmanabhan denied him one. In fact, Uniyal had four wickets in space of 11 balls.

Bahutule (3 for 50) and Harvinder Singh (2 for 31) were the other wicket-takers.

In reply, Elite 'B' lost Wasim Jaffer (27).

Amit Pagnis had to retire hurt after he injured his right elbow when he half ducked to a Tinu Yohanan delivery. 

Opener Vinayak Mane (20 not out) and young batting talent A T Rayadu (19 not out) were at the crease when stumps were drawn.
