M K Gupta, a bookmaker, said he had paid $20,000 to Waugh for 'information' on the pitch, weather, team strategy, and morale whenever Australia played.In response, Waugh said: "I accept fully that my actions were naive and stupid. At the time I didn't see the implications of offering such information, which I thought to be routine. "I have always given my best for my country in every match. I have never been involved in match-fixing or bribery in any cricket match."
