Rajiv Shukla appointed manager of Indian cricket team

Senior journalist and a member of the working committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Rajiv Shukla, was on Sunday appointed manager of the Indian cricket team for the forthcoming tour of England.
According to a senior BCCI official, Shukla's appointment was approved by the board president Jagmohan Dalmiya.
The Indian squad led by Sourav Ganguly would leave for England on June 17 from Delhi.
"We would take part in the triangular one-day series to be played between India, England and Sri Lanka. In all, 12 one-day matches would be played. We hope to win the one-day series as also the four-Test series," a beaming Shukla told rediff.com in Delhi.
Member of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association, Shukla has held several important posts both in the UPCA and the BCCI.
A Rajya Sabha member, Shukla has been taking keen interest in the cricketing affairs of the country in the past couple of years. During the investigations into the match-fixing scandal, he was the chief advisor to the former BCCI president Dr A C Muthiah.
