  • Ajit Agarkar became the19th Indian and the 121st player to appear in 100 or more LOI matches. Agarkar had made his debut against Australia at Kochi on 1-4-1998.
  • Nick Knight (31) when on 30, became the sixth English batsman and the 72nd overall to reach 3000 runs in LOIs.
  • Ronnie Irani (53) playing in his 16th LOI match made his highest score of his career, which betters his previous best of 45 not out against Pakistan at Birmingham on 31-8-1996.
  • Irani's bowling figures 5-26 was by far his best of his career. His previous best was the 1-23 he claimed against New Zealand at Auckland on 2-3-1997.
  • His bowling performance was the fourth best by an English bowler in LOIs. Only Mark Ealham (5-15 v Zimbabwe at Kimberley, 30-1-2000), Vic Marks (5-20 v New Zealand at Wellington, 22-2-1984) and Craig White (5-21 v Zimbabwe at Bulawayo, 18-2-2000) have better figures for England.
  • However it was the best by an English bowler at home surpassing the previous best of 5-31 by Mike Hendrick against Australia at this same venue on 20-8-1980.
  • Irani's bowling was also the best by an English bowler against India eclipsing the previous best of 5-35 by Paul Jarvis at Bangalore on 26-2-1993.
  • Irani also became the second Englishman after Graeme Hick (80 & 5-33 - against Zimbabwe at Harare on 20-2-2000) and the tenth overall to score a fifty-plus and take five or more wickets in the same match.
  • The catch of Sehwag was Alec Stewart's 150th dismissal (138cts+12sts) in 152 matches. However this tally includes dismissals wihile keeping wickets and as a fielder. He becomes the first Englishman to do so.
  • The 38 run partnership between Anil Kumble and Ashish Nehra was the third best for the tenth wicket against England. However it was the best for India against England, obliterating the previous best stand of 26 runs between Subroto Banerjee and Javagal Srinath at Perth on 22-2-1992.
  • Nehra's 24 was the highest score made by a number 11 batsman against England. Sri Lankan Muthiah Muralitharan had made 18 in this position at Lord's on 16-8-1998.
