England's one-day squad are not happy at having to play an extra match in India in the New Year.

The team will now play the first of six one-day internationals in Calcutta on 19 January, with the extra match taking place in Cuttack three days later.

Matthew Hayden's fifth Test century of the year helped put Australia in a commanding position at the MCG.

It was no one man show, however, with skipper Steve Waugh making 90 and Justin Langer and Damien Martyn also contributing half centuries as the home side built a commanding lead of 210.

Matthew Hayden made 138 to take his total in 2001 to 1,388, beating the previous Australian record of 1,361 Test runs in a calendar year by Bobby Simpson in 1964.

Australia captain Steve Waugh has been fined half of his match fee after being found guilty of showing dissent after an incident, when he was adjudged to have been run out after making 90, during the second Test with South Africa in Melbourne.

Zimbabwe in Sri Lanka

Zimbabwe suffered a nightmare start in their chase to avoid the follow-on against Sri Lanka in Colombo. That left the tourists 14 for one, still needing 373 to make their hosts bat again.

But bad light stopped play eight overs early, and brought the tourists some relief.

Bangladesh in New Zealand

New Zealand wrapped up a comprehensive victory over Bangladesh just 65 minutes into the fourth day in Wellington, winning by an innings and 74 runs.

The tourists, who resumed on 67 for five, were bowled out for 135, falling to a 2-0 series defeat

Miscellaneous

Two neutral umpires will stand in all Test matches from April next year, the International Cricket Council has confirmed.

They will be drawn from a list of eight senior match officials, to be chosen by ICC chief executive Malcolm Speed and former Indian Test batsman Sunil Gavaskar, the chairman of the council's Cricket Committee (Playing).
