Madhavan gives Ajay Sharma
last chance

Former Delhi captain Ajay Sharma has been given a last opportunity to appear, on Saturday, before the Board of Control for Cricket in India's vigilance commissioner K Madhavan, who is questioning the players named in the CBI report on betting and match-fixing.

"This is the third time I have called him. Each time he has come up with some excuse or the other (for not appearing)," Madhavan said on Friday.

"If he doesn't come tomorrow, I am not going to give him a further chance,'' Madhavan added.

Sharma is one of the five cricketers -- the others being Mohammad Azharuddin, Ajay Jadeja, Manoj Prabhakar and Nayan Mongia -- named in the CBI report.

Prabhakar, Jadeja and Mongia, along with former team physiotherapist Ali Irani were questioned by Madhavan in Madras while Azharuddin went through a six-hour grilling by him at Hyderabad on Thursday.

Madhavan has said he will submit his report to the BCCI by November 25, ahead of its special general meeting which is slated for November 29.
